AEMC Responds to LOT Industry Alliance Launch Collaborates with ITRI to Build New Milestone in Patent Alliance Defense
To strengthen intellectual property protection and enhance international competitive resilience, AEMC Corporation officially joined the “Taiwan LOT (License on Transfer) Industry Alliance” promoted by the Industrial Technology Research Institute on June 24, 2025. This initiative connects over 150,000 valid patents with industry-leading enterprises, jointly establishing Taiwan's first cross-industry intellectual property protection network.
As global patent litigation risks escalate, with Non-Practicing Entities (NPEs) increasingly suing technology companies, businesses face potential operational threats. The LOT Alliance employs an innovative licensing mechanism: when a member's patent is transferred to an NPE, all other members automatically receive a license. This significantly reduces litigation risks and potential losses while preserving the original patent's value and technological independence.
AEMC has consistently prioritized intellectual property management and utilization, long committed to establishing an IP strategy that integrates operational objectives with R&D resources. Through diverse innovation incentive mechanisms and systematic management systems, the company continuously strengthens the protection of R&D outcomes and enhances market competitiveness. Joining the LOT Alliance will further expand the company's patent defense capabilities, enable sharing of cross-industry IP resources, and provide real-time insights into global IP trends and risk developments.
The LOT Alliance currently spans multiple core technology domains including semiconductor manufacturing processes, IC design, communication protocols, and computer architecture. It employs a dual-track management approach for semiconductor and ICT sectors, allowing members flexible participation based on their technical focus. AEMC will uphold its core values of “Integrity, Trust, Service, and Innovation” to deepen IP collaborations with domestic and international industries, jointly advancing technology protection and maximizing innovation value.
Through strategic patent positioning, cross-domain collaboration, and international technical exchanges, New Applied Materials will broaden and deepen intellectual property applications. This approach not only safeguards innovation outcomes but also builds a more resilient and competitive foundation for Taiwan's technology industry.
